As a leadership coach, Ilka draws from decades of success in traditionally male-dominated roles in the Department of Health and Human Services.
She understands how to mobilize bureaucratic departments to work together to meet an extreme deadline, implement culture change by holding leaders accountable, and start a movement by bringing diverse people to the table to achieve a common goal. It was through these experiences that Ilka learned to leverage opportunities to “fly the plane while you are building it.” She excelled as a leader by driving systemic changes, building and restructuring teams, and helping people grow within large organizations.

Ilka is a masterful storyteller, comfortable in her vulnerability and sharing her personal battle with cancer, a painful divorce, and her career in public service, where she excelled in advising leaders on the best strategies for communicating ideas and working collaboratively, even in situations of chaos and uncertainty. She is fluent in the Spanish language and culture and strives to serve both English and Spanish language audiences equally.
